Equator currently have two software development positions available, one mid-level and one senior.

Web Application Developer

Due to continual expansion, we are currently looking for a Web Application Developer to join our Development team.

You must have a genuine enthusiasm for development work, be committed, client facing, talented, fun and have at least 2-3 years experience in web based technologies.

As part of the team you will be expected to take on new projects, work on existing projects, provide support to the senior members of the team, provide updates on progress and also support junior team members. You will also continually push for the implementation of new technologies and best practice in every aspect of the development project life cycle.

Key Technical skills/Experience

  • 2/3 years + ASP.Net
  • 2/3 years + c#
  • 2/3 years+ SQL Server
  • CSS, (X)HTML, JavaScript/ JQuery and Ajax experience
  • An understanding of web services and application integration
  • Knowledge of and a desire to use continuous integration technologies
  • Knowledge of automated testing and load testing
  • A good grasp of Object Oriented Design and techniques
  • Produce accurate and well documented solutions

Key Role Skills

  • Willingness to teach and mentor others
  • Take responsibility for design and development on client projects
  • Provide input and implement improvements in the development life cycle
  • Present ideas and solutions to clients
  • Undertake buddy testing
  • Be comfortable working in agile project methodologies

  • 5 years + c#
  • 5 years+ SQL Server
  • CSS, (X)HTML, JavaScript/ JQuery and Ajax experience

  • A good working knowledge of continuous integration technologies and proven implementation on projects
  • Knowledge of automated testing and load testing
  • An authoritative grasp of Object Oriented Design and techniques
  • Proven architectural roles on projects
  • Produce accurate and well documented solutions

Development Role in Glasgow (JPMorgan)

Description:
This is a unique opportunity to work on a high profile, cutting-edge product that is intended to be used by thousands of people .

The role involves being part of a team developing a Java message broker and client libraries.  The role also involves providing support to the existing customer base.

The successful candidate will be an outstanding Java developer with experience developing complex multithreaded applications across a range of platforms. The candidate should also have experience of the full software lifecycle, especially the maintenance of large or complex applications.

Designing and implementing various aspects of the message broker and client libraries. This includes some requirements analysis as well as documenting and implementing your designs

Understanding customer requirements for enhancements and providing support to client applications in development and in production

Maintaining a presence on the public and private mailing lists ensuring that all feedback is taken on board
Qualifications:

  • Must have degree in computer science or very closely related discipline.
  • In-depth knowledge of server-side Java programming, particularly JMS, on a Unix or Linux environment.  
  • Messaging: Any prior experiencing of messaging middleware products highly beneficial
  • Solid grounding in computer science including complexity analysis and data structures

  • Understanding of transactional systems e.g. databases.

Experience Required

  • Strong communication and team-working skills. In particular excellent written communication skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work to deadlines

Experience - Desired

  • Experience in Web GUI development
  • Experience in C# / .NET or C++ programming
  • Experience in Eclipse RCP development
  • Must have degree in computer science or very closely related discipline.
