LINQ provides a rich, productive, maintainable, extensible framework for querying objects, XML, relational data and other sources. Well describe the new language features required to make this work and show examples of querying XML and relational data sources to see it in action. Session 2 Visual Studio 2008 and .NET Framework v3.5 Highlights In this session, well cover some of the other highlights of Visual Studio 2008 and the next release of the .NET Framework version 3.5. If the noise around LINQ has so far drowned out all the other new features, then this session aims to put that right. From Visual Web Developer to Visual Studio Tools for Office, join us for a feature fest. Well make sure you have plenty of pointers to find out more about your favourite bits. Presenters: Mike Taulty, Microsoft: Mike has been in the team since 2003 and is currently looking at technologies such as Windows Vista and the .NET Framework Version 3.0. Before joining the Community team, Mike worked in Microsoft's Services group as a developer consultant focused on helping ISVs and Enterprises develop their applications. Prior to joining Microsoft, Mike spent the previous nine years working as a software developer for a number of different software houses, end-users and consultancies, making use of various operating systems, databases and what used to be called 'middleware' Martin Parry, Microsoft: Martin graduated in Maths and Computing in 1992 and developed commercial software for a number of ISVs, on a variety of platforms, before joining Microsoft in 1999. He worked as an application development consultant for a number of years before taking on his current role of Developer Evangelist. His motto, 'Its only code', reflects his belief that software, like everything else, is simple when you understand how it works. Now he just has to explain how it works. When time permits, Martin sometimes attempts to play the piano. |
