Experiences with ADO.NET is a short talk by Dr Colin MacLean of Sonix Technologies (www.son-ix.co.uk) experience in moving to ADO.NET. This presentation has been given to companies such as Subsea 7, Fugro-Survey and Pisys and describes the issues in moving from traditional Microsoft Access / SQL Server databases connected to Visual Basic or Visual C++ front ends, to the ADO.NET. Philosophy.
ADO.NET is a class library for Microsoft�s .NET development tools. As such it is totally different from the ADO, RDO and DAO libraries that most database developers are familiar with. This talk explains the new philosophy and the ADO.NET classes. It shows how to use .NET to create custom classes to access your databases in minutes , thus saving weeks of work. Finally the talk concludes with a list of Gotchas for the unwary programmer.
