Jobs in Edinburgh: “Scrum Master” and “Mac OS Product Engineer”

ESRI UK are looking for a couple of people right now to work from their Edinburgh office:

Position: Mac OS Product Engineer
Closing Date: 20th July 2012

We have a vacancy for a Mac OS Product Engineer to work on developing a Mac OS software product.

The successful applicant will have a range of the following skills:

  • Proficient in Objective-c, XCode and Interface Builder
  • Proven experience in the Cocoa and/or Cocoa Touch environments
  • Experience with using the Terminal application
  • Good knowledge of troubleshooting and debugging applications on Mac
  • Experience of user interface and user experience design, and user requirement gathering
  • Solid writing and presentation skills

The responsibilities of this role include:

  • · Providing input to the design of the new Mac OS developer APIs and associated products
  • · Developing code to support SDK products
  • · Testing software with component tests and ad-hoc tests
  • · Troubleshooting issues, tracking bugs and enhancements
  • · Writing documentation to describe user workflows, and creating sample applications and demonstrations
  • · Interacting with users to gather feedback and answer questions through forums, email and conferences
  • · Communicating product functionality through presentations

A range of the following skills and experience may also be beneficial:

  • B.Sc. or higher degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, GIS, or a related field
  • Experience of using GIS software and systems, particularly Esri products
  • Knowledge of an objective-c unit test framework such as OCUnit or SenTestingKit
  • Knowledge of REST and JSON
  • iOS experience is beneficial

Position: Scrum Master

We have a vacancy for a Scrum Master to help facilitate our existing scrum process. The personal qualities of the individual include:

 

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Enthusiasm for the scrum process
  • An ability to resolve conflict
  • Attitude of empowerment
  • Assertive where appropriate
  • Organised

The responsibilities will include running the daily scrum meetings and end of sprint retrospective and planning meetings. Reporting progress and predicting future schedule. You will be working with up to 4 teams with members based locally and internationally. The teams work closely with core Esri software development based in Redlands, California.

 

A range of the following skills and experience is beneficial:

  • Experience of the full software development cycle
  • Scrum process experience
  • Organising teams
  • Project Management experience
  • Degree level qualification (MSc, BSc, PhD, MBA) or equivalent experience.

Office Location: Edinburgh and occasional travel to the US.
