LEAN but not mean. That’s how we are now being encouraged to think and the Agile Scotland group has succeeded in attracting strategic keynote speakers to an event to be staged in Edinburgh on December 3rd 2003.

Attendees should be prepared to have normal thinking and business processes turned on their head. It is really an event not to be missed and following on from the recent ScrumMaster training Scotland is fast becoming a leader in the introduction of new technologies and thinking.

For instance, better, cheaper, product development. You can have all three — if you adopt the same "lean" principles that have already started to revolutionise manufacturing, logistics, product and software development.

Do not miss this opportunity to become part of the new wave of development. Contact Agile Scotland at hubert.smits@agile-scotland.org

Agile Scotland are a not for profit group created to promote and support the adoption of Agile within Scotland. The monies received from this conference event will be ploughed back into future Agile Scotland activities.

This event has been made possible with the support of ThoughtWorks and the eXtreme Tuesday Club.

In the words of Martin Fowler:

"I'm an author, speaker, consultant and general loud-mouth on software development. I concentrate on designing enterprise software - looking at what makes a good design and what practices are needed to come up with good design. I've pioneered object-oriented technology, refactoring, patterns, agile methodologies, domain modeling, the Unified Modeling Language (UML), and Extreme Programming.

I have the august sounding title of Chief Scientist at ThoughtWorks - a cutting edge system delivery and consulting firm. I've been here since March 2000 when I gave up my long and successful career as an independent consultant because I'd found a company that I believed was truly world beating."

Ammar Kaka

Professor Kaka has an international reputation for research on the assessment, planning and control of construction projects.

Author of more than seventy research papers, he has held several EPSRC research grants that led to the development of a Dynamic Cash Flow Forecasting model, mapping of projects' financial management processes and occupancy cost prediction model for buildings.
